How to read it
Statements are published as tables because tables are precise, not because they are readable. Charting the same lines makes the shape obvious — which costs grew with revenue and which grew faster, where margin came from.
Check the period labels before comparing anything. Fiscal years do not align with calendar years for many companies, and a quarter-over-quarter comparison across a fiscal boundary is a common way to draw the wrong conclusion.
Change it
The prompt is the interface. Ask for a different ticker, a different expiration window, or an extra column in the same sentence style and the agent edits the app in place — you do not start over, and you do not wait for anyone to build it.
Limitations
- Fundamentals arrive on the provider’s schedule, so the most recent quarter can lag the company’s own release.
- Restatements and reclassifications are not always reflected retroactively in a single series.
- Filing-derived data such as insider or institutional activity is reported with a statutory delay.
